This is one of my favourite all-time shots. Taken in the cornfields of Iowa, this picture was originally supposed to feature the whole of Slipknot but in the end just featured Corey Taylor. I love the fact that the empty field lends the image a creepy quality. As a picture, I think there’s something quite ominous about it.
This is Slash strumming away in my hotel room in Pittsburgh. The man is a joy to work with and this shot was taken during the sessions for Velvet Revolver’s first Kerrang! cover story. I’m probably one of few people who’ve had Slash on their bed who he hasn’t ended up…….well I’m sure you can imagine
This picture was taken at the photo studio at Kerrang!’s old office. What I like about this is the fact that here The Prodigy really do look like men who mean business. This doesn’t look like a group that’s about to take any prisoners.
This was my private audience with one of the finest musical talents of his or any generation. This shot was taken at a now-defunct studio just a few yards from here in Chalk Farm. I normally don’t like photos of people with their instruments but this one makes the grade because it appears so natural.
This shot is largely about Billie Joe Armstrong’s eyes, which I think really pop out of the frame. But I think that Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool look really good in this picture as well. The three of them really look united, as if they’re a team (which, of course, they are).
I love shooting woman and their picture of Amy Lee illustrates why. This image was captured in Barcelona, everything came together perfectly, I think the effect of this picture is not only gothic but actually regal and balletic.
What I was going for in this shot was something epic. This picture was taken in the autumn on what was an unusually sunny day. The band’s bassist, James [middle], couldn’t believe that I was moaning that Scotland in October was too sunny.
Prior to this session I was told, ‘Do not ask Anthony to take off his top – he will not take off his top.’ Luckily for me, I was accompanied on this shoot by Caroline Fish, Kerrang!’s tattooed art editor. As soon as the subject of skin art came up, he couldn’t get his top off quick enough!
