I arrived at Snoops hotel in west London armed with the copy of the Star and no small amount of apprehension. After waiting more than an hour in the lobby I was informed that he had just started watching “Spartacus” on the hotel TV and could we wait a little longer!? I’m pretty sure it was the 3 hour version of the film. Eventually I was ushered to his room and shot him for quite some time, he was polite, friendly and very softly spoken….and an hour late going on stage for his Brixton Academy show later that day.
Having been assigned to shoot Weller for a live review, I got to drink with him in the bar of the hotel after the gig. Being a fan since I was twelve I was blown away when he invited me to his video shoot the next day. All other plans were cancelled and I spent the day snapping away and smiling a lot! It was sunny, but cold and windy so Paul took shelter behind his amp. A cup of tea is never far away.
Their first London gig and a showcase to music media for a newly signed Creation band Alan Mcgee had been ranting about. Even then Liam had all the swagger and arrogance he still possess in buckets today. He’s since told me (on many occasions) that this is his favourite photo. (possibly because Noel isn’t in it!)

An “outtake” from the now famous red military jacket shoot.
This was from the very first NME cover shoot and immortalised with those red military jackets.
At the height of “Eminemania” we joined the bleached rapper on the vans wrapped tour. I’d shot his live show and set up lights and camera by the fence from the stage to the backstage area… It wasn’t the greatest of backdrops till I shouted to passing the fans to come and join in. Just after this shot some of the kids started to climbed the fence and the shoot came to an abrupt end!
My brief for this shoot was to get Chan to pose somewhere on site that was quirky, a kiddies playground for example…Already not relishing the idea and hearing that she could be a little unpredictable, he PR made 3 unsuccessful attempts to pry her from her chalet. On the third attempt the PR asked me to go to the chalet and talk to Chan directly because she wanted to do the shoot in her room. I was completely disarmed when I got there, Chan pulled out a guitar and sang to me virtually naked in her bed by way of apology. She got her way and I got some great and very “real” pictures.
This was from the NME shoot I did after the band finally decided to reform to play Reading and Leeds. It was the first time all four of them had been in the same room together for over 6 years
